Children dancing in the fields at the Ferrer Modern School in Stelton, New Jersey, sometime between 1915 and 1920. It’s likely that one of the older children in this picture is my Aunt Emma, perhaps the girl leading the pack here — and it could even be that one of the littler sprites is my dad, maybe the child right behind her.
Obviously the curriculum was quite different from our current public school offerings — oh for the days of yore.
