Thinking about curriculum reform, and the “Modern School Movement” of the early 20th century. How far we have come — in the wrong direction. I cannot help but feel that education centered around testing and assessment is repressive to the very nature of learning. My dream would be for us to move toward schooling where learners are increasingly self-directed, as they were under systems envisioned by John Dewey as well as by more radical education reformers…
